What west side plumbing has to put up with
Plumbing behaves differently depending on where it is buried and what flows through it. Three local conditions shape most of the work we do around Culebra Road and Loop 1604.
Hard water
Edwards Aquifer water carries a lot of calcium. It scales water heaters, stiffens faucet cartridges and narrows tankless heat exchangers, which is why water treatment and regular flushing matter here.
Moving ground
Clay and caliche soils swell after rain and shrink in drought. That steady movement stresses sewer joints and the water lines that pass through a slab foundation.
Rare but hard freezes
Homes built for heat often leave attic lines and hose bibs unprotected. The February 2021 storm showed how quickly that turns into split pipe.
