A gas leak is never a do-it-yourself project and never a wait-and-see problem. If you smell gas, leave the house first and call the gas utility from outside. Once the utility has made the area safe, we locate the leak, repair it and pressure test the system before service is restored.

The causeWhy it happens

Gas leaks come from corroded pipe, loose threaded joints, cracked flex connectors on older appliances, damaged underground lines and failed shutoff valves. Underground steel lines corrode over time, particularly in wet soils. Old uncoated brass appliance connectors, still found behind some ranges and dryers, can crack at the flare fittings. Construction and digging also damage buried gas lines.

DiagnosisWhat we check first

01Leak location
We test joints and connections with leak detection solution and electronic detectors to find the source.
02Pressure test
After repairs, the system is pressurized and monitored to confirm it holds.
03Appliance connectors
Old flex connectors are replaced with current approved connectors.
04Underground lines
Corroded or damaged buried lines are located and repaired or replaced.
